Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
If you really love Jesus, you will obey His teaching. Saying you love Him is easy, anyone can say they love Jesus, proving you do is another matter. When you understand and appreciate what Jesus did for you at the cross it changes you, you’re no longer the same. True love and gratitude responds in obedience and dedication and with passion.
This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.
Your true wisdom and value is not found in your own understanding, power, or riches. It is found in knowing God and in salvation. I cannot boast about anything I have but I can boast about knowing the Lord. I can boast about His kindness, justice, and righteousness. Everything I have and everything I am is because of Him and because of His unfailing love and mercy. If you’re going to brag about something, brag about Jesus.
The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
If you read your Bible in faith, studying the truth, asking God to give you understanding of what was, what is, and what is to come the Lord, by His grace, will enlighten your mind and soul. God’s word gives understanding to all who seek Him.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
Christ has the power to make you free and those that are set free by the Son are truly free. If you accept his teaching as truth and also obey his teaching you are true disciples. You will know the truth because your eyes will open to a greater understanding of the truth which will set you free from the bondage of sin.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
We don’t always have to have all the answers we just need to trust the one who does. God knows everything from beginning to end. He knew you before you were born and he knows the plans he has for your future. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, surrender to his will, and know that he loves you and always has your best interest at heart.
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
God is holy and he is calling you to be holy. Before you knew God you didn’t know any better, but now that you know God he expects more from you. He expects you to be holy. God wants you to be obedient and live according to his will, in every aspect of your life.
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
This law expects that you love yourself, as we all should. Many of us struggle with loving and taking care of ourselves. We put everyone else first but the truth is we have to take care of ourselves first. We can’t love anyone else if we don’t take care of our own health, mind, body, and spirit. Remember to take care of yourself, you can’t pour out blessings from an empty cup.
