Freedom

Verse of the Day:  2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

 

As a nation we ought to be grateful for the freedom we have in this country and for many of us it’s our tradition to celebrate that freedom.  As a child of God we have an even greater freedom because God is present in our lives and we are freed from the chains that bind us. There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain that tries to restrain us and keep us in a life of sin. There is true freedom from knowing and having a relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ!

God Power

Galatians 5 16

 

Verse of the Day:  Galatians 5:16

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

 

It doesn’t matter what kind of temptation comes knocking at your door you can only get so far with willpower.   You may be able to fight temptation yourself for a little while but sooner or later willpower alone will not be enough.  Instead of trusting your own willpower turn to God and trust in His power.

A Heart at Peace

Proverbs 14 30

 

Verse of the Day:        Proverbs 14:30

A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.

 

When you have a real relationship with God, He changes your heart.  You start to feel freed from anger, worry and envy.  You have peace in your heart and a hope that makes you joyful.  But a person who envies the happiness, prosperity and success of others exhausts your body and soul.  Don’t let envy steal your peace and joy, don’t let it affect your spirit or your health. Trust in the Lord and trust that what is meant for you won’t pass you by.

Pray for Others

Verse of the Day:        Ephesians 3:16-18

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.

 

Like Paul prayed for the believers in Ephesus, we need to pray for our friends and family, our enemies, and the world.  We need to pray that they would invite Jesus into their lives so they may experience His infinite love first hand and have a personal relationship with Him.  We also need to pray that they would come to truly know Him, His grace, glory and how much He really loves them.

That I May Know Him Better

Verse of the Day:  Ephesians 1:17

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

 

My deepest wish and desire is that I may know Him better.  With every day, week, month, and year that passes my hope is that I may gain wisdom and revelation that brings me closer to Him. I want more of you, God, less of me and more of you, God.

Our Daily Bread

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 4:4

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

 

Just like bread (food) supports life to your body, the Word of God supports life to your soul. Your body can’t go too long without nourishment and without food for prolonged periods your body becomes weak. It’s the same for your soul, without regular nourishment your soul too will become weak. You don’t just eat on Sunday, why would you only feed your soul one day out of the week? Nourish your soul by reading the Word of God daily.

Spirit and Truth

1 9-29 1

 

Verse of the Day:  John 4:23

But the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.  The Father is looking for those who will worship Him that way.

 

God is looking for people who will worship Him with passion, with their heart and soul.  But that’s not all, it must also be in truth.  Truth comes from the certainty in knowing who God is.  The more we know who God is the more genuine our worship becomes.  As you begin to worship God in spirit and in truth you will be transformed by His grace.  Worship changes everything!
