Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Just like bread (food) supports life to your body, the Word of God supports life to your soul. Your body can’t go too long without nourishment and without food for prolonged periods your body becomes weak. It’s the same for your soul, without regular nourishment your soul too will become weak. You don’t just eat on Sunday, why would you only feed your soul one day out of the week? Nourish your soul by reading the Word of God daily.
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?
There is nothing in this world worth losing your soul for. That may sound harsh but it is the reality. A big house, expensive car, fame, fortune, none of it is worth losing your soul over. You can’t take anything you gain in this world with you into eternity. Don’t lose your soul over something temporary and everything on Earth is temporary so ask yourself, is it worth your soul?
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
If your life feels out of control, in turmoil, or you feel angry Jesus is the answer. Jesus was a great example of how to be gentle and humble. Follow His example and you will find rest for your soul. Gentle = kind, mild in temperament; Humble = respectful, showing a modest estimate of one’s own importance.
The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
If you read your Bible in faith, studying the truth, asking God to give you understanding of what was, what is, and what is to come the Lord, by His grace, will enlighten your mind and soul. God’s word gives understanding to all who seek Him.
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
We were created with a longing for Christ. We unsuccessfully try to fill this emptiness with people, things, and projects. But the truth is, only Jesus can satisfy your soul. only Jesus can make you whole. It’s not enough just to know who he is, you need to personally experience the love of Christ in your life.
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
A soul on fire is a heart that has moved from knowing who God is to having a personal relationship with God. It is passionate about sharing the Word of God and the love of God with hurting people. Be sure to keep your flame fanned by using the gifts God has given you to help bring salvation and hope to the lost.
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
If our hope is anchored in Jesus, when we go through storms we can be confident that we will remain connected, safe, and secure. Whatever storm we face we can trust that Jesus will never leave us and our hope is never misplaced.
