This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.
Your true wisdom and value is not found in your own understanding, power, or riches. It is found in knowing God and in salvation. I cannot boast about anything I have but I can boast about knowing the Lord. I can boast about His kindness, justice, and righteousness. Everything I have and everything I am is because of Him and because of His unfailing love and mercy. If you’re going to brag about something, brag about Jesus.
What does the Lord require of you? To do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
This is what God wants, for you to treat others fairly, behaving morally righteous, showing compassion and forgiveness even to those who don’t deserve it. Be respectful, gentle, and live modestly, not thinking too highly of yourself. You don’t always have to behave the way you feel, but you should always behave in a way that pleases God.
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry
As believers in Jesus Christ we have been made righteous through him and not by our own doing. We have been adopted into the family of God the Father. Because of his grace and love for us he watches over us and protects us, and when we cry out to him, he hears us.
Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.
You have a new identity in Christ. You are no longer a slave to sin and because you’ve been set free from sin you can offer yourself to God so he can use you for his purpose. Devote yourself to God and to his service with all your heart.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness
Reading the Bible as part of your prayer may lead to enlightenment. God speaks to us in many ways including his written Word. God may open your eyes to something new when a passage you’ve read before suddenly becomes clear and impacts you like never before.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Unconfessed sin can be a stumbling block that keeps us from getting closer to God. The Bible says, The Lord is far from the wicked but he hears the prayers of the righteous. (Proverbs 15:29) When you pray, confess your sins to God. Because he is merciful, he will forgive you and cleanse you from the sin and guilt so your fellowship with him may be restored.
She is clothed in strength and dignity; and laughs without fear of the future.
Carry yourself with the strength and power that comes from the Lord. Strength to make decisions in your life that honor God. Live each day with integrity and righteousness knowing that God will supply all your needs until you rejoice with Jesus for all eternity.
