We all need God in our lives, but how do you “draw near to God”? You draw near to him through prayer, praise and worship. You need to take the first step by inviting him into your life and start to experience his goodness for yourself.
To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
We have so much to be thankful for. Even if our lives are not perfect, even if we have troubles, we still have so much to be thankful for. No matter what is going on in our lives, there is always something to be thankful for. God is good, take time right now to thank him for all the good in your life.
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Life is not always sunshine and flowers. There are days when bad things happen, days when sadness creeps in, or when we just feel lonely. In these times we need to lift our head toward God and give praise to our Savior. Thank him for all the good in your life. Put your hope in him and rely on him to get you through even the darkest of days.
I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
No matter what is going on in your life keep praising the Lord! Praise invites God’s presence into your situation and gets your focus off of you and onto God. The more you praise God the better you’ll feel about the things that are getting you down because praise defeats the enemy.
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
Prayer should begin with praise, acknowledging God for who he is, he is worthy of all praise. Focus your thoughts on him alone. Focus on his characteristics and what he means to you. Lift your hands toward your heavenly Father as you pray in Jesus’ name.
