Good Gifts from Your Heavenly Father

1 12-8 1 Matthew 7 11

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 7:11

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. (NLT)

Doesn’t it make you feel wonderful to know you have given your children what they’ve asked for on their Christmas list? Now, think about how much more your heavenly Father also wants to give you good gifts. God loves you and it makes Him happy to bless you with the desires of your heart. God already knows what you need before you ask, if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

Kindness and Charity

1 12-5 1 Matthew 25 40.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 25:40

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Practice acts of kindness and charity not because of who they are but because of who you are, a child of God.  Share God’s goodness with those in need.  Do what you can as often as you can for as many as you can.

Christmas is For-Giving

1 12-3 1.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 6:14-15

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

We have all made mistakes, none of us are perfect. There are times we need to ask for forgiveness and there are times we need to forgive. How can you come to God asking forgiveness when you yourself have not forgiven?  When you hold on to blame and offenses it creates an environment of bitterness in your heart. Let go of the anger and give the gift of forgiveness not only for the offender but for yourself as well.

Our Daily Bread

1 11-12 1 Matthew 4 4.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 4:4

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Just like bread (food) supports life to your body, the Word of God supports life to your soul. Your body can’t go too long without nourishment and without food for prolonged periods your body becomes weak. It’s the same for your soul, without regular nourishment your soul too will become weak. You don’t just eat on Sunday, why would you only feed your soul one day out of the week? Nourish your soul by reading the Word of God daily.

Is It Worth Your Soul?

1 11-2 1

Verse of the Day:   Matthew 16:26

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?

There is nothing in this world worth losing your soul for. That may sound harsh but it is the reality.  A big house, expensive car, fame, fortune, none of it is worth losing your soul over. You can’t take anything you gain in this world with you into eternity. Don’t lose your soul over something temporary and everything on Earth is temporary so ask yourself, is it worth your soul?

God’s Will Not Mine

1 10-30 1

Verse of the Day:   Matthew 26:39

And going a little farther, He fell on His face and prayed, saying, my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me, nevertheless; not as I will, but as you will.

Jesus gave us the example of how to pray when going through something difficult. He prayed to the Father saying, if it’s possible let this difficult situation pass from me but let it be what you want, not what I want. God knows everything from the beginning to the end we just need to trust Him and His will.

The Golden Rule

1 10-27 1

Verse of the Day:   Matthew 7:12

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

People think the “Golden Rule” was made up by man, but it’s actually biblical. It’s so basic and fundamental that we teach it to our children yet, we, as adults sometimes forget the principle in our own lives.  Treat others with fairness and mercy just as you would like to be treated.
