Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
If your life feels out of control, in turmoil, or you feel angry Jesus is the answer. Jesus was a great example of how to be gentle and humble. Follow His example and you will find rest for your soul. Gentle = kind, mild in temperament; Humble = respectful, showing a modest estimate of one’s own importance.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
We are called to be like Christ – gentle, caring, loving and compassionate. Everywhere you look there are people that need help, especially right now with all these natural disasters happening. People are hurting and need help, it’s up to us as Christians to find a way to do what we can to help them.
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Let your light shine, do good deeds so that others will glorify God. There are many people in need of help right now, especially those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Volunteering your time will help these people experience the love and goodness of God.
RedCross.org and VolunteerMatch.org are excellent resources to connect you to volunteer opportunities in your own community. If you aren’t able to volunteer your time you can still help by making a monetary donation, donating goods, and/or giving blood.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Prayer doesn’t have to be full of big, fancy words. Don’t be intimidated by long, loud, eloquent prayers. Pray from your heart, have a conversation with God, and pray knowing and believing that he hears you. If you don’t know how or what to pray, pray for God’s will to be done in your life. God will take it from there.
Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Worrying doesn’t change a thing and it sure doesn’t add any benefit to your life. Instead of worrying start serving. Spend time helping those in need and you’ll have less time to spend worrying. Focus on helping others and God will make sure you are taken of.
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
This law expects that you love yourself, as we all should. Many of us struggle with loving and taking care of ourselves. We put everyone else first but the truth is we have to take care of ourselves first. We can’t love anyone else if we don’t take care of our own health, mind, body, and spirit. Remember to take care of yourself, you can’t pour out blessings from an empty cup.
Therefore, everyone who acknowledges me before people, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven.
Everyone is standing up for what they believe in. They’re rallying and marching for political parties, rights, you name it, there’s a march for it. It’s time we have the courage and confidence to stand up for what we believe in, Jesus Christ! He is the way, the truth and the life!
