Serving

Mark 10 45.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Mark 10:45

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Even though Jesus was born King, by His own example He teaches us humility.  The Bible says that Jesus did not come to be served but to serve.  As ambassadors of Christ our lives should exemplify His traits and should reflect Christ in us. Let’s follow His example of humility by serving the less fortunate this holiday season and throughout the year. Overcome Your Unbelief

Mark 9 24

Verse of the Day:  Mark 9:24

Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

Every believer at one time or another has doubts about their purpose in life.  As long as you still have some faith God will work with what you have.  It’s not about your power or your strength, it’s about having faith in the power of Christ.  When you feel doubt and fear creeping in ask God to help you overcome your unbelief and increase your faith.

Why Should We Serve?

Mark 10 45 2.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Mark 10:45

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

As followers of Jesus Christ we should follow the example He set for us. Jesus showed us how to help the weak and we must, with humility and love, also do the same.  How wonderful it is to serve God by serving others.

Do You Hear What I Hear?

1 12-20 1 Mark 16 15

Verse of the Day:  Mark 16:15

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

This Christmas carol describes how the news of Jesus’ birth might have swept across the land. From the lamb to the shepherd boy all the way to the king and everyone in between the story of the birth of the Savior, the light of the world, is being shared.  Today, we also have the same commission and more. We’re to share not only the news of the birth of Jesus Christ but also His teachings, His death, His resurrection, and His second coming.

Love Yourself

1 11-29 1 Mark 12 31.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Mark 12:31

The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.

Sometimes we forget the “as yourself” part of this verse. Many of us struggle with loving and taking care of ourselves, we even feel guilty for doing so. We put everyone else’s needs first but the truth is we can’t love anyone else if we don’t take care of our own health, mind, body, and spirit.  Make self-care a priority and remember, you can’t pour out blessings from an empty cup.
