“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.
Honestly, this lesson is hard for many to learn. You may be determined to demand your rights as a citizen of this country but it’s not always what’s best for you as a Christian. Just because you have the right to do something doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right for you. Knowing the difference between your rights and what is right for you comes with spiritual maturity.
The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.
God is generous with us and He expects us to be generous with others as well. We serve a compassionate God and this creates a compassionate heart in us. The awesome thing is that when we give to others from our heart God blesses us even more. We can never out give God.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
If you are listening to the word of God but not applying it to your life and expecting your life to change you’re fooling yourself. That would be like reading about a diet then eating junk food and expecting to lose weight. You have to apply it to your life, you have to change your habits and it has to be a way of life not just a Sunday event.
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
Christianity is long-term, it’s for all eternity but we can’t just stay where we are today we must continue to grow in our relationship and faith in Jesus. Reading, studying and applying the Bible to your life will help you grow closer to Jesus Christ our Savior.
Feeling joy in ordinary things isn’t as hard as it seems. To find joy in your life focus on the good and be grateful for what you have. It’s not happy people who are thankful, it’s thankful people who are happy. Give thanks to the Lord for in his presence is fullness of joy.
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
You don’t have to be an eloquent speaker to have the courage to tell people about Jesus. All you need is the willingness to share your own story. Just tell others what God’s love, goodness, grace and mercy has done in your life.
