Have I not commanded you, be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
When you feel weak, afraid, or discouraged turn to God. He heals the brokenness and brings peace and joy. You don’t have do it alone, he’ll will be with you every step of the way. Trust in God and he’ll get you through it.
All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.
You can choose to be worried and troubled or you can choose to trust God and be happy. The way to a happy heart begins in giving thanks to God in every situation. You can always find something to be thankful for even if you have to look a little harder. Be grateful for the little things that God can use to fill your heart with joy.
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
This law expects that you love yourself, as we all should. Many of us struggle with loving and taking care of ourselves. We put everyone else first but the truth is we have to take care of ourselves first. We can’t love anyone else if we don’t take care of our own health, mind, body, and spirit. Remember to take care of yourself, you can’t pour out blessings from an empty cup.
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
In this world money comes and money goes and worldly enjoyment lasts only for a moment. To be truly rich in life do good deeds and cheerfully share what you have with those in need. Build your treasure in heaven by doing the work of the Lord. Visit the sick, feed the hungry, and help others to know God, these are things that make life worth living.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Without hope we feel helpless, alone, and powerless. But our God is the source of all hope. Hope for healing, hope for peace, hope for joy. All hope comes from knowing, believing, and trusting God and by his grace he has given us the gift of hope.
The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
Choosing your friends is a big deal because whether you know it or not you become like the people you spend the most time with. Surround yourself with people who encourage you and make a positive impact in your life. Your friends should inspire and motivate you to do good and be a better person. Choose your friends wisely and be a good friend too.
But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
We are the clay, marred by sin and imperfect, feeling unusable. But in the potter’s hands we are transformed into a new creation. If we give ourselves to God, he will mold us into a vessel fit for his purpose and every good work he has planned for us.
