Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
There may be times when all your efforts lead to disappointment, your plans don’t work out and your situation seems hopeless. Don’t lose hope, turn to God, leave it all in His sovereign hands. When you put your problems in God’s hands He puts peace in your heart.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
The Christian life is not always easy. Jesus said we will have troubles but we can have peace because He overcame the world (John 16:33). Be encouraged in knowing you can be joyful in the hope you have in Christ, patient during troubled times and faithful in your prayer life regardless of what is going on around you.
And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.
The dictionary defines love as an intense feeling of deep affection. But the Bible tells us that love is much more than a feeling, it’s the most important and greatest virtue of all. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.
The Bible tells us that God cannot lie. His promises and oaths are unchangeable. We can believe and be confident that if God has made a promise we can count on it and not only can we count on it, we can live our lives by it.
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
As 2017 comes to a close we can thank God for seeing us through another year. Though we may have had struggles we made it through them with the help of the Lord. The new year, 2018 will soon be here and it is a time for new beginnings. Trust in the Lord to renew your strength and refresh your spirit, and remember you are more than conquerors through God who loves you.
What God gives us through Christ is more valuable than any other present we could ever receive on Christmas day. Through God’s gift of His only Son, Jesus Christ our Savior we have been given the gifts of forgiveness, peace, hope, love, righteousness, redemption, joy, victory, and so much more. Thank Him today for His indescribable gift!
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
God has given us more than we could ever deserve and we should follow his example of giving. When we give to the weak we are spreading God’s love and hope into the hearts of those who receive the gift. When you give in a right spirit it truly is an act of worship and pleases the Lord. Let’s not forget that God gives to us so that we may be generous to others. This Christmas lets focus on giving rather than receiving.
