Confidence

Proverbs 31 25

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 31:25

Strength and honor are her clothing; she is confident about the future.

A virtuous woman of God carries herself with strength and honor in her attitude and her behavior.  She is in control of her actions and does everything with purpose and uprightness.  She is respected for more than her outward appearance, she is respected for her godliness and holiness.  She is confident because she knows God is in control of her future.

We Three Kings

1 12-22 1 Matthew 2 11.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 2:11

And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

The magi had followed the star to Jerusalem where they asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?”  Upon finding Jesus they fell down and worshiped Him bestowing honor to Him, acknowledging Him as King. After they worshiped Him they presented their gifts.  The three gifts had spiritual meaning, first gold, a gift for royalty, which represents His Kingship. Second, frankincense, a symbol of his priestly role and mediator between God and man. And finally, myrrh which is a burial ointment because Jesus would die for our salvation.

Teach by Example

1 12-2 1 Psalm 34 11

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 34:11

Come, my children, listen to me:  I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

The best gift you can give your children is to teach them to obey and follow the Lord which leads to wisdom, prosperity and a happy life. Teaching children to fear the Lord doesn’t mean they should be afraid of Him, it means they should respect Him and put Him first in their lives. Fear of the Lord requires awe, reverence, adoration, honor, worship, faith, trust, thankfulness, and love.  We teach these to our children not just by word but by example. Share Jesus, the greatest gift of all, with your children.

Give Honor Where Honor is Due

1 romans 12 10

Verse of the Day:  Romans 12:10

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Let’s encourage each other by giving honor where honor is due.  Everyone needs to feel appreciated and we all know someone who deserves a little credit for everything they do.  Take a moment to honor someone with a sincere and authentic compliment.

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 20:7

The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.

Fathers: You are responsible for teaching your children about the Lord.  Be a spiritual leader by example, show love, discipline when necessary, and have compassion for your children.  Children:  Obey, respect, and honor your father, in all the ways of the Lord.  Fathers and Children:  No one is perfect, forgive each other and try to live in peace.

Happy Mother’s Day

Exodus 20 12

Exodus 20:12

Verse of the Day:  Exodus 20:12

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

If you are blessed to still have your mother in your life honor her as the Lord commands.  Be devoted and respectful, affectionate and loving for she won’t always be here.  If there are grievances between you ask God to help you forgive each other.  If you are blessed to be a mother pray that you would be a good example for your children and that they would honor you in the same way you have honored your own mother.

Praise and Honor

proverbs31_30-31

Proverbs 31:30-31

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 31:30-31

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.  Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Moms deserve to be appreciated for all they do for their families.  Much of what they do is unseen and undervalued.  They make sacrifices without hesitation all in the name of love.  Give thanks to God for your mom and all the God fearing moms and ask him to bless them in a special way.
