Teaching by Example

Psalm 34 11

Verse of the Day: Psalm 34:11

Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

The best gift we can give our children is to teach them to obey and follow the Lord which leads to wisdom, prosperity and a happy life. Teaching children to fear the Lord doesn’t mean they should be afraid of Him, it means they should respect Him and put Him first in their lives. Fear of the Lord requires awe, reverence, adoration, honor, worship, faith, trust, thankfulness and love.  We teach these to our children not just by word but by example. Share Jesus, the greatest gift of all, with your children.

Honor One Another

Romans 12 10.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Romans 12:10

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Let’s encourage each other by giving honor where honor is due.  Everyone needs to feel appreciated and we all know someone who deserves a little credit for everything they do.  There are many ways to honor someone who truly deserves recognition. It can be as simple as saying thank you, your kindness has not gone unnoticed or it can be something extravagant. The point is to recognize and encourage them.

Happy Father’s Day

Proverbs 20 7.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 20:7

The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.

Fathers, you are responsible for teaching your children about the Lord.  Be a spiritual leader by living a life of integrity. Show your children love, discipline when necessary and have compassion on them.  Children, obey, respect and honor your father as the Lord commands.  Fathers and children, remember that no one is perfect, forgive each other and try to live in peace.

Confidence

Proverbs 31 25

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 31:25

Strength and honor are her clothing; she is confident about the future.

A virtuous woman of God carries herself with strength and honor in her attitude and her behavior.  She is in control of her actions and does everything with purpose and uprightness.  She is respected for more than her outward appearance, she is respected for her godliness and holiness.  She is confident because she knows God is in control of her future.

We Three Kings

1 12-22 1 Matthew 2 11.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 2:11

And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

The magi had followed the star to Jerusalem where they asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?”  Upon finding Jesus they fell down and worshiped Him bestowing honor to Him, acknowledging Him as King. After they worshiped Him they presented their gifts.  The three gifts had spiritual meaning, first gold, a gift for royalty, which represents His Kingship. Second, frankincense, a symbol of his priestly role and mediator between God and man. And finally, myrrh which is a burial ointment because Jesus would die for our salvation.
