A Cheerful Giver

2 Corinthians 9 7

Verse of the Day:  2 Corinthians 9:7

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Spread the love of Christ with your fellow man this Christmas. There are a couple of weeks left until Christmas so you still have time to make a donation to a worthy cause that helps the needy. Follow your heart and remember that the Lord has blessed you so you can bless others. Whether it’s big or small make a donation to your favorite charity, every bit helps and makes a difference in the lives of others.

Kindness and Charity

Matthew 25 40

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 25:40

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Practice acts of kindness and charity not because of who they are but because of who you are, a child of God.  Share God’s goodness with those in need.  Do what you can as often as you can for as many as you can.

Serving

Mark 10 45.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Mark 10:45

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Even though Jesus was born King, by His own example He teaches us humility.  The Bible says that Jesus did not come to be served but to serve.  As ambassadors of Christ our lives should exemplify His traits and should reflect Christ in us. Let’s follow His example of humility by serving the less fortunate this holiday season and throughout the year. Christmas is For-Giving

Matthew 6 14-15

Verse of the Day:   Matthew 6:14-15

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

We have all made mistakes, none of us are perfect. There are times we need to ask for forgiveness and there are times we need to forgive. How can we come to God asking for forgiveness when we have not forgiven?  When we hold on to blame and offenses it creates an environment of bitterness in our heart. Let go of the anger and give the gift of forgiveness not only for the offender but for yourself as well.

Jesus is the Reason for the Season

Proverbs 22 6 (2)

Verse of the Day: Proverbs 22:6

Train children in the way they should go; when they grow old, they won’t depart from it.

Christmas is a great opportunity to start teaching children about Jesus.  You can find ways to teach them the story of how and why Jesus was born and the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior.  For example, you can read stories from the Bible or children’s books appropriate for their level of understanding, you can sing Christmas carols and talk about their origins or you can use a nativity scene and other decorations, like a star to explain what they represent.  Make the most of this opportunity to share Jesus with your family.

Teaching by Example

Psalm 34 11

Verse of the Day: Psalm 34:11

Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

The best gift we can give our children is to teach them to obey and follow the Lord which leads to wisdom, prosperity and a happy life. Teaching children to fear the Lord doesn’t mean they should be afraid of Him, it means they should respect Him and put Him first in their lives. Fear of the Lord requires awe, reverence, adoration, honor, worship, faith, trust, thankfulness and love.  We teach these to our children not just by word but by example. Share Jesus, the greatest gift of all, with your children.

‘Tis the Season to Be Jolly

James 1 19

Verse of the Day:  James 1:19

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

‘Tis the season to be jolly.  Even though it’s the most wonderful time of the year everyone is busy, stressed out, in a hurry and not always as polite as they can be. As Christians, let’s try to set an example of how to treat others.  Let’s be kind and slow to anger and remember, Jesus is the reason for the season.
